Gareth Griffiths
Experience & Expertise
Gareth Griffiths began his engineering career at the age of 16 through an apprenticeship with a global electronics manufacturer, completing his training in 2003. Over the following nine years, he progressed from Engineer to Engineering & Project Manager at a leading UK window manufacturer, leading the engineering team, managing production and delivering a range of improvement and capital projects. During this period, he also developed a site-wide OEE monitoring system capable of capturing live production data from machinery and departments across the facility. Alongside his professional development, Gareth completed a BSc in Mechatronic Engineering, reflecting the combined mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines that continue to underpin his engineering approach.
In 2012, Gareth joined a world-leading OEM friction welding manufacturer, where he developed extensive specialist knowledge of friction welding machines, associated processes, and control systems. This experience was further expanded through a subsequent systems integrator role supporting friction welding OEMs and customers, alongside broader automation integration projects involving Rockwell and Siemens PLC platforms and advanced variable frequency drive commissioning and programming.
Griffiths Engineering Solutions Ltd was founded to bring this depth of experience directly to customers as a fully independent specialist — with clients ranging from cable-laying vessels operating out of Japan to companies innovating combustion engine technology, large global paint manufacturers, and friction welding specialists across the world.
